Properties:

Ostoval is composed of different components, each of them individually and together with other components of Ostoval, plays an important role in preventing, slowing down and treatment of different metabolic bone diseases, among which, Osteoporosis which is a condition characterized by the progressive loss of bone density and thinning of bone tissue. Osteoporosis is a symptomatic in its early stages and in late stages is characterized by certain symptoms, like:

  • Fractures of the vertebrae, wrists, or hips
  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Bone pain or tenderness
  • Loss of height overtire
  • Stooped posture
  • Figures indicate that there are groups of people at greatest risk of this disease:
  • Post-menopausal women
  • Thin or small-bone women
  • Patients with family history of Osteoporosis or multiple risk factors
  • Those receiving corticosteroids therapy
  • Those with low bone mineral density (BMD)
  • Those with hyperactivity of thyroid & parathyroid glands

There are several steps which are recommended for Osteporosis prevention & treatment such as: appropriate diet, exercise, life style modification and quiting smoking and above all of that appropriate supplementation of Calcium, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitmain Be, Vitamin K and Boron (Ostoval formula).
Calcium, is the major mineral constituent of bone. Clinical studies revealed that Calcium therapy significantly delays the rate of bon,e loss and also reduces risk of hips fracture in elderly women. Also, studies indicated that the optimal Calcium dose is 500 mg / day for optimal absorption %. Inadequate Calcium is thought to the development of Osteoporosis.
Vitamin D, it has been demonstrated thct vitamin D sufficiency is decisive in the maintenance of skeletal integrity & bone mass and it is needed for Calcium & ph. absorption from intestine. It is recommended that the daily intake should be between 400-800 lU / day.
Vitamin D supplementation studies prove its positive influence on Calcium metabolism with consecutive stowed rates of bone loss and a lower incidence of osteoporotic fractures.
Vitamin C the evidence is clear and convincing that an adequate Vitamin C supply results in an improvement of biochemical & mechanical bone parameters thus reducing bone abnormalities. Vitamin C is essential for conversion of Vitamin Dr into the most active circulating metabolic cholecalciferol, a process which leads to improve bone condition. The protective competence of Vitamin C to the connective tissue has been accepted since long, Vitamin C has an inductive effect on functional proteins in the intro-cellular phase & stimulate collagen synthesis providing tensile strength to the bone and serving as the template for bone mineralization.
Vitamin B6 supply when becomes scarce, collagen & bone architecture show significant patho-morphological change.
Vitamin B6 is needed for the proper maintenance of the bone matrix and it is essential for the proper cross-linking of the collagen fibrils in a chain of long processes leading to bone strength. Also Vitamin B6 has a link with Vitamin K in proper bone metabolism.
Vitamin K is essential co-factor for functional enzyme systems. Low concentration of Vitamin K is found in patients with osteoporosis bone fractures. Vitamin K undersupply leads to a functional insufficiency of the bone remodeling activities with a subsequent reduction of bone mass & density. The effect is reversible. Vitamin K supplementation normalizes again the remodeling activities in the bone, where mineralization increases and risk of osteoporotic fractures is reduced. Bone proteins are more sensitive to a vitamin K undersupply than are clotting factors. In risk group like in elderly. Vitamin K supply is apparently adequate for normal coagulation, but it is too low for proper bone remodeling & mineralization activities. Vitamin K supplementation is a valuable prophylactic tool for reducing the number & severity of the complications of osteoporosis.
Boron is essential element in bone formation.
