Description
Properties/Actions
Pramacort cream is a unique compound preparation. It combines corticosteroid (Hydrocortisone acetate) with a local anesthetic agent (Pramoxine HCl).
Hydrocortisone acetate has an anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictor effects.
Pramoxine HCl is a topical anesthetic agent which provides temporary relief from itching and pain. It acts by stabilizing the neuronal membrane of nerve endings with which it comes into contact.
Pramacort cream is a topical anti-inflammatory, vascoconstrictor preparation suitable for relief of inflammation, itching and pain of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Indications
Pramacort cream is indicated for corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, such as:
  • Anal fissures
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Allergic dermatitis
  • Pruritus (itching)
  • Atopic dermatitis
  • Neurodermatitis
  • Post scabies
  • Post laser treatment
  • Insect bites
Contraindications
Topical corticosteroids are contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.
Drug Interactions
Side Effects/Adverse Effects
Pramacort cream may cause temporary redness or minor irritation when first applied. Inform your doctor, if these symptoms continue or become worse.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pramacort cream should be used in pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Caution should be exercised when topical corticosteroids are administered to nursing women.
Dosage & Administration
Pramacort cream is generally applied to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily depending on the severity of the condition.
Usage of rectal cream applicator:
  1. Lubricate the applicator with a thin layer of Pramacort cream, then insert into the rectum.
  2. Press the tube to apply a sufficient amount of the cream.
  3. Wash applicator with warm soapy water after using.
