Composition:

Acetylsalicylic acid…………….75 mg

Properties:

It is a pleasant tasting raspberry flavored chewable tablet which dissolves in the mouth with pleasant taste and leaves no nasty after taste.
Aspocid Infantile flavored tablets overcomes the difficulty of administering ordinary aspirin tablets to children. The tablets cause less gastric irritation and hence minimize acidity and nausea caused by ordinary aspirin tablets. Aspocid Infantile has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic actions.

Indications:

Aspocid Infantile is indicated in:

 

  • For the relief of the less severe types of pain such as headache, neuritis, acute and chronic rheumatoid arthritis, myalgias, toothache and earache
  • In the treatment of the minor febrile conditions such as colds and influenza
  • Reduction of temperature by acting on the heat regulating centers in the brain
  • In the treatment of acute and chronic rheumatoid arthritis

 

Contraindicatons:

Aspocid Infantile is contraindicated in:

 

  • Hypersensitivity to salicylates or NSAIDs
  • Hypersensitivity is more prevalent in patients with asthma, nasal polyposis or chronic urticaria
  • In hemophilia, bleeding ulcers and hemorrhagic states
  • In advanced renal or hepatic impairment
  • Do not use in children or teenagers with chicken pox or viral infections

 

Side Effects:

The following side effects are unfrequent or rare and may occur specially after repeated administration of large doses:

  • Gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or bleeding
  • Chronic use may cause iron deficiency anemia
  • Hematological effects are prolonged bleeding time
  • Allergic reactions
  • Salicylism
  • Acetylsalicylic acid has been implicated in some cases of Reye’s syndrome in children

Dosage and Administration:

1.Children (age 1 – 2):

  • Dose: 75 – 150 mg
  • Tablets: 1 – 2
  • Maximum daily dose: four times daily

2. Children (age 1 – 5):

  • Dose: 225 – 300 mg
  • Tablets: 3 – 4
  • Maximum daily dose: three times daily

3. Children (age 6 – 12):

  • Dose: 300 mg
  • Tablets: 4
  • Maximum daily dose: three times daily

Warnings:

Aspirin should be used under medical supervision in children under 12 years old, because it may be the cause of Reye’s syndrome.

Packaging:

Box of 5 strips of 6 chewable tablets each.

Storage:

Store at room temperature, below 25°C.
